This years Jim Byrd Memorial Clinic was a great success. 2009 US Open Champion Lucas Glover along with Charles Warren and Fairway Outreach Honorary Chairman Jonathan Byrd and Clemson Assistant Golf Coach Jordan Byrd put on quite a show for a great group of juniors from the Columbia Area.
A week after the clinic, Lucas defeated Jonathan Byrd in a sudden death playoff to win the prestigous Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Golf Club in Charlotte NC. Jonathan made a spectacular par on the 16th and birdie on 18 to tie Lucas as he held the lead in the clubhouse. The two would have to play off down 18. Lucas made par to win and Jonathan finished 2nd. It was special for the kids who attended the clinic to see Jonathan and Lucas battle on televison after spending time with them the week before. Maybe next year they will come back and repeat.
