Jonathan Byrd
Honorary Chairman - Fairway Outreach

Columbia’s own Jonathan Byrd, a five-time winner on the PGA Tour, is Fairway Outreach’s Honorary Chairman. With Jonathan’s strong Christian faith and family values, tremendous work ethic and passion for the game, he is a great role model for our youngsters and an inspiration to all involved with the program.

Jonathan played at Spring Valley High School and was a three-time All-American and Academic All American at Clemson. He was inducted into The Clemson Ring of Honor, which is the highest honor the school can bestow on a former athlete.  He and his wife, Amanda, and their children,  Jackson and Caroline, live at Sea Island, Ga.

Jonathan and his brother Jordan got an early start in the game thanks to their father, Jim, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer in 2009. His mother, Jo, lives in Columbia and Jordan is the assistant golf coach at Clemson.

Jonathan also serves on the board of The College Golf Fellowship and had this to say about Fairway Outreach: “I’m very happy to be part of Fairway Outreach and its mission. Golf, kids, and the Christian Faith are all very important to me and Fairway Outreach is about all three of these. I wanted to give back to Columbia and Fairway Outreach is the right organization for me to do this with.”

Above is Jonathan Byrd sharing his Christian faith with Fairway Outreach youngsters during the Christmas holidays in 2007.  Jonathan, who is Fairway Outreach's Honorary Chairman, also offered golf tips and gave the youngsters a chance to ask questions about their favorite professional golfers and the tour in general.
